Nocturnal

Friday, 14th November

Here's a journal entry for today. I got up at 20.27, which is quite late, but had a good sleep after the night shift. I make myself a cup of tea then retreat back into my room.

The PoDN. Good preparation which leads straight into 30 minutes with guitar. Here's a brief report to share:

Relax into myself.

Relax into the environment.

Relax into the guitar.

Set the metronome at 72 BPM.

Practice the 1st Primary: 1324 pattern (ascending the fretboard) 4231 (descending)
Work on the 4 inner strings, between 1st and 13th fret.

Quarter, eighth, eighth triplets & sixteenth notes.

Observe what tensions arise in the body when I change the speed, and let them go.

When reach sixteenth notes limit the working area (from 3rd until 11th fret) and multiply individual notes of the pattern. For example:

2 2 2 2 - repeat first note 2 twice, second note twice etc.

then...

2 1 2 1
3 3 3 3
3 3 3 2

Also approach 5 notes per beat.

Complete with the 'Music for the found harmonium'.

Later I join Marek and Belen in the living room and have a cup of coffee. Marek offers some mushroom soup, very nice and flavoursome. We go out for a walk around Harrogate, it's a full moon tonight, it's windy and the air is fresh. It is also Friday night -> many people around enjoying their night out. After this I go to the shop on my own.

Another picture from the Yorkshire Dales. That's how the day looks like:

Night animal is free to do its night business when everybody else is asleep as every normal person does. This includes: chi kung, JoTD, reading from KW's book, meal.

Also guitar time II, briefly reported here:

Prepare with the Alexander lie-down.

J.S.Bach repertoire:

Review first 20 bars of Prelude VI, then learn bars 21-24. Use visualization technique.

G gigue

d courrante

Play. A groove comes up, then another one. I play around them and record on mac. Have a lot of fun with it!

Check the watch, almost 50 minutes.

Short sitting. Then take it easy and watch The Cable Guy .
